The Grants & Program Manager will lead the successful implementation, oversight, and reporting of donor-funded programs. This critical role ensures that grant-funded initiatives are delivered with excellence—on time, within budget, and in full compliance with donor regulations and internal policies. The role is ideal for a mission-driven professional with a strong background in donor compliance, grant reporting, and stakeholder coordination, who wants to make a meaningful impact on educational outcomes in underserved communities. 

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.    

 Grant Management & Donor Compliance 

  • Lead project implementation tracking across multiple grants, ensuring all deliverables are met within time, budget, scope, and compliance parameters. 
  • Develop and coordinate donor reports, including narrative updates, deliverables, financial reports, and forecasts. 
  • Oversee sub-award management, ensuring robust due diligence, monitoring, and compliance with Opportunity and donor standards. 
  • Maintain a central grant dashboard to monitor program progress and flag implementation challenges early. 
  • Coordinate with the finance team to review and manage project budgets and spending. 

Regulatory & Risk Compliance 

  • Conduct due diligence and compliance checks for potential funding partners. 
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit-readiness of all donor-funded programs. 
  • Train and support field teams on grant-specific compliance requirements. 
  • Participate in audits and donor monitoring visits. 

Business Development & Strategic Input 

  • Contribute to proposal design and decision-making by sharing learnings from project implementation and donor feedback. 
  • Collaborate with fundraising and partnerships teams to develop new proposals and budgets aligned with donor priorities. 
  • Define and refine key performance indicators and outcomes for proposals and existing grants. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY       

  • Education Finance Grants Accountant 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in International Development, Economics, or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in program/grant management with INGOs, multilateral donors, or development consultancies. 
  • Proficient in budget development and financial oversight. 
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills with proven experience drafting donor reports and proposals. 
  • Familiarity with software such as Financial Edge NXT, Raiser’s Edge NXT, Smartsheet, and MS Teams is an advantage. 
  • Deep understanding of donor expectations developed through experience working with institutional and large corporate/foundation donors in international development required (e.g., USAID, FCDO, World Bank, etc.). 
  • An understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission and values of Opportunity International. 

LANGUAGE AND TRAVEL 

  • Fluent English required; knowledge of one or more local languages preferred. 
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
